Smt. Jashoda Mukeshbhai Patel

Smt. Jashoda Mukeshbhai Patel is a well known
name in Ahmedabad’s classical dance world.
Founder of ‘Nrityalaya’, a famous dance studio,
she has been performing, imparting education and
in the process, has created her own special place
in the field of performing arts. Jashoda Patel,
fondly called “Gillu” by her loved ones, did her
graduation and post-graduation in Kathak from
Gujarat University. She has been training under
renowned Kathak dancers and teachers, Smt.
Ishira Parikh and Shri Maulik Shah, since the last
20 years. As the principal faculty of Nrityalaya, she
has trained many students under her belt. These
students are aged from 7 years to upto 60 years!
She trains students on traditional Kathak, Bolly-
Kathak, Kathak Fusion and even contemporary
and freestyle dance forms. She also masterminds
various activities to boost the confidence of her
students; like Baithak and one-day workshops.
Apart from the usual training, Jashoda Patel has
also participated and organised many stage
performances. Because of her dedication towards
her work, Jashoda Patel was given ‘Women
Achiever Award’ for ‘Most Promising Classical
Dancer in Ahmedabad’ in 2017.
